Disney remakes of classic movies
On March 17, 2017, the 2017 film Beauty and the Beast was released in movie theaters across the United States. For the next few days, people have seen entire families lining up across ticket lines in nearby theaters to watch the film. Beauty and the Beast 2017 film was the remake of Disney’s 1991 classic film of the same name, Beauty and the Beast. The 1991 film was a simple 2D animation created by artists; 26 years later, Disney released the 2017 film that featured hired actors and actresses to play the roles of Belle, the Beast, Gaston, and other characters with the historical background setting in Rococo-era France. This 2017 film was the first successful remake Disney has ever created, and it was based on the idea of bringing 19 of Disney’s animated classics to life.
This idea of bringing Disney’s Beauty and the Beast to life in a real world setting is starting to become set for other classics such as The Lion King and Mulan. According to Facebook, Disney’s remake of Mulan will be released in November 2018. Niki Caro will be starring in the remake of Mulan, which has been budgeted over 100 million dollars to create the setting, hire the cast, and film the movie. Tim Burton has signed on to reimagine the remake of Disney’s fourth animated film Dumbo. As with the 1992 film Aladdin, the Genie is getting a prequel in the film titled “Genies”. What these examples of upcoming remakes have in common is real actors and actresses are currently being hired to play the roles of classic Disney characters to make them come to life. Disney is taking a step forward into making their traditional animations into a real-life setting where the characters appear before viewers viewing the film. Disney is sure to make a good impression on taking their films into the real world.
